The Metav South offers the optimal setting for us to present the novelties from our three business units precision tools, heat-and surface treatments and PVD-coatings. The kick-off of the exhibition season 2006 begins on the Metav in Munich. Further participations are planned for the Metav Düsseldorf and the AMB, Stuttgart. On all three exhibitions we will present a special tooling highlight.
The new RF2-A series is completely in line with the current market requirements for modular tool solutions, and will be presented for the first time in Munich. The RF2-A complements the already extensive product program for cut knurling tools.
The tool series is suitable for cut knurling applications from Ø 3mm and is equipped with a shank the height of which is adjustable. The height-adjustment provides two clear user advantages: First, the change from a 20mm shank to a 25mm shank size is simple and realized in no time. More important though is the fact that an investment in two individual shanks is not applicable.
The RF2-A earns further points for flexibility through the turnable tool head, allowing an easy change from right to left-hand turning machines.
A major market requirement any successful tool manufacturer has to consider in his product development is the tool’s stability. This characteristics gains more an more importance due to the market trend, which is followed by many manufacturers, of processing more difficult to machine materials. Therefore great importance was attached on a stable, but compact tool design for the new product line. Tests under extreme machining conditions provided all exceptionally positive test results.
“The optical appearance of a tool is really not important for the user”, an often heard statement of the very technically focused product developers. However, this is not very close to the truth, as could be proven by an external customer survey. The RF2-A series has therefore a modern tool design with a coated cut knurling tool head.
Appearance is also a main topic for the H+K Surface Technology. Market surveys show that decorative coatings are showing an increasing demand for tool manufacturers. With its flamboyant colour, the patented, PVD coating nACo®, can provide a unique-selling point and competitive advantage. The coating is especially suitable for high-performance cutting tools. Its extremely high heat- and oxidation resistance guarantees optimal tool life –even under extreme conditions.
